Time will tellNot going to speculate too much about the North Coast BC electrification plans BC hydro is looking at.
They are gathering expressions of interest from current industrial users who wish to convert to clean electricity and new industrial users estimated future requirements.
Building a new transmission line will take 8-10 years. In the meantime, buidlding 3 capacitor stations is an option to allow more electricity to flow on the old line. But even that will take until 2028 to complete.
Green hydrogen producers want action now. Demand is there from Japan and other coutntries. This is where a windfarm could be an interim solution.
This, plus BC Govt's desire to add in other soruces of electricity rather than hydro, makes Northland's windfarm proposal more attractive. I don't know if Northland will pursue green hydrogen development also in the region. If so, they must contact BC Hydro with the details.
Time will tell.
