Northland Power Inc > Hydro or hydrogen?

Hydro or hydrogen?

Posting this because Northland could be involved in projects on BC's north coast. Power is required to the Prince Rupert area. BC Hydro is asking for input into future power requirements from mining, green hydrogen, LNG, etc. Until April 15th.

It costs a lot and 10 years to build new a transmission line into the area. Co-ownership of grid infrastructure, whether with First Nations or companies, is also being considered.

BC Hydro---water power. But the governemnt is leaning to new sources of electricity. Wind and maybe even green hydrogen to power industry. etc.  Will require back-up power for wind farms. Could green hydrogen play a role for industry's electrical needs until a new transmission line is built?

The government will also launch a task force within BC Hydro to speed-up the electrification of the provincial economy with a focus on renewable energy.

Environment Minister George Heyman says the new framework ensures industry is under "strong" emissions reduction requirements, while allowing it to seize upon opportunities to use emerging clean energy technologies.
