ESBESB to press ahead with offshore wind project despite failure to win electricity supply contract – The Irish Times

Well ESB got 545MW with Northland instead. A solid Irish company since 1927, majority owned by the Irish Government, can't win on home ground, but has extensive experience in Scotland instead. The Irish auction was to bid as low as possible to win the contracts.

Jim Dollard, ESB Executive Director of Generation and Trading, expressed the importance of the partnership in delivering on ESB's Net Zero targets and leveraging their experience in Scotland. Dollard stated: "The Spiorad na Mara and Havbredey projects are an exciting opportunity to collaborate with a global partner in Northland, build on our extensive experience in Scotland, and provide synergies and learnings for similar projects in Ireland."
