This fundamental pop today is so far not holding up for some oily names like it has previously.

Sell-in-May-and-Go-Away is looming and seasonal strength appears waning.

I'm holding small positions as insurance if news over summer continues to push names higher but would not surprise me to see general market pullback over summer.

Sell-in-May-and-Go-Away is maybe a rule of thumb, but not always the case, and if there was ever a year to break from the norm, this would be it. I think sector and WTI consolidation is wrapping up, and another leg up soon as WTi approaches $70 in H2.

Have a look at the 2016 chart, a year coming off a bottom, maybe we get a similar chart pattern through May.

What ever your thoughts for May I think it's still early. I'd like to see the May 11 meeting details and guidance for the second half and see how the long weekend plays out with people driving and going away. Carnival is restarting there cruise business in Florida and Delta/AA increasing flights and selling the middle seat to meet demand. France and Germany should be out of lockdown. Lots ...more
