huger

I think Buffet getting into gold is going to be a lot huger for the next couple of months then

a lot of people realize Gold Humbug was his motto. I always loved this tidbit from him.

" dig gold out of a hole in South Africa and bury it in another hole in the US and pay somebody to guard it while it loses money. "

Berkshire was up 12% in the aftermarket. IKE

Hi Ike It may appear "huge", but I am not so sure it really is so Earth shattering .  Buffett (and his fund) is only good at investments where he can influence and control the trade.  He is a MOAT investor. Gold is not one of those trades.    In addition, despite the misplaced myth that his BH fund is so rewarding to investors, that facts actually reveal that ...more

I wonder what the‘implications’ if any ,of this move are by Buffett and if they can infact be understood .Intentional or not ,Im pretty surethat gold equity investors may well be subject here to at least a bit of ‘Management Perspective’, by which they may well have their emotions and behaviour influenced by Buffetts actions . Actions speak louder than words ,and we have all had  to ...more

It's not that difficult, FW.   "Never bet against America; nothing can stop this nation":  Warren Buffett.May 4, 2020 After gaming the system for so many years, it appears that the Old Fart is having second thoughts. Tx

So ,the leading benficiary of all those bailouts is now betting against the system .Then it is true ... .....Even a worm will turn .”Treade a worme on the tayle, and it must turne agayne” Hmmm.  There must be some real friction behind the curtain He was their loving grandpa mouthpiece.  Never thought I would see that . Then, who gets all the marbles ? Every man for himself .  FW

" dig gold out of a hole in South Africa and bury it in another hole in the US and pay somebody to guard it while it loses money. " In this video on YouTube, Quinton relates that the hole in South Africa extends to Western Australia. Hello, Warren? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSKSqyTJE9Q

"[Buffet] took no delivery of the physical I believe" Buffet ended up buying up to 130 million oz silver in the late '90s for up to 5 dollars an oz, physical, held in London, and despite calling derivatives 'financial weapons of destruction' he sold covered calls at 7 dollars, which were eventually stopped out, causing him to make delivery. Coincidentally, in 2006 SLV was ...more

This about sizes it up: https://www.nasdaq.com/articles/heres-why-warren-buffetts-berkshire-hathaway-has-lagged-the-sp-500-and-why-it-could-have?amp And the mediocre performance all anchored upon a single overpriced tech company that builds its products in China. Brilliant. Tx

firewitch: good article link. But one thing:   "Dividends alone can offer him plenty of cash flow in his golden years to provide him a very nice retirement (one of the perks of being a billionaire ...)" I don't suppose he would be receiving BRK dividends. Buffet loves BRK receiving dividends but never pays them to his shareholders. He's got 130 Billion dollars on ...more
