If you believe oil has a future beyond 5 years you should be jumping in with both feet but many investors are convinced that oil is dead. I too believe that is changing with big investors coming back to oil like Buffet and Cooperman. The stigma of oil and gas is also holding stock prices back as many investors believe it is immoral. If these stigmas are overcome, these stocks will fly. I think every investor in this sector needs to accept that they may never get a reasonable valuation on these stocks. We will get our returns through oversized dividends. That more than anything will result in re-ratings of these stock prices. I don't ever think we will see valuation norms for other sectors applied to our stocks.
