Obsidian Energy Ltd. is a Canada-based exploration and production company. The Company operates in one segment, to explore for, develop and hold interests in oil and natural gas properties and related production infrastructure in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin directly and through investments in securities of subsidiaries holding such interests. It operates on a contiguous and an acreage within the heart of the Peace River Oilsands region.

RE:RE:RE:RE:Share buy backUsually if it is a strong operational quarter, they would pre release the good news before the full quarter so I agree 1q is probably a bit weaker. They also get the value of the stock option grants nice and low which would give them a big incentive to buy back thereafter. Unfortunately buying back 85,000 shares per day which is their limit is not enough to counter a short attack. All above is speculation of course so do your own due diligence.
