Hopefully Stephen can get the debt retermed while things are good with oil. What happens in March at next OPEC meeting? Probably a chance now that OPEC doesn't wait until Sept to unwind at 400k per month...and just goes to precovid levels now atr next meeting....this one thing holding Canadian energy stocks back. With elevated oil prices OPEC wont want to cut 400k so non opec sources can ...more

OPEC has less spare capacity than we think... I don't think they could magically turn it all on at once. 400k per month is already difficult for them.

Cliff...OPEC has had so much incentive and panic to get world oil inventories down as Iran has signaled their plans since fall of 2021: Iran is set to boost its crude oil capacity to 4 million b/d by March 2022, returning to levels not seen since before the US withdrew from the nuclear deal and re-imposed sanctions on the country's crude sales in 2018, the oil ministry's news service ...more

How ironic is this....released 2 hours ago...and it was said by Russia of all countries......Russia is probably scared sh*tless of Iran selling oil again. 90-100 oil becomes pretty hard if Iran can sell. Actually worse as Permain basin shale has just woke up. Intersting weeks ahead. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-02-13/russia-says-significant-progress-made-in-iran-nuclear-talks

About 2.5 million barrels per day of Iran's oil is used internally.  Iran is already exporting about 1 million barrels of oil per day. That means Iran could maybe add another 500,000 boe per day this year. It is an error to believe that Iran could 1.5-2 million barrels of oil into world markets fairly fast.
Comment by kavern23 on Feb 13, 2022 3:24pm
1 million boe is pretty much guaranteed quite fast....Iran budget even shows this..... And then it get's higher in 2023 as they will ramp up. Iran has 25% of the middle east oil reserves.  They have been ramping up for this for months. Iran has good stuff...alot of better then Iraq fields as you gas inject and iran has planty of ng verus having to use water in Iraq.. When Trump put ...more

My take is that the additional supply that Iran could add to the market and even the shale drilling uptick will be lost in a sea of increasing demand. Turns out the EIA just came out recently about massively under reporting of demand and actual world stockpiles are much lower than thought. That will help Iran get free of sanctions but demand is already over pre pandemic levels and rocketing upward ...more
