Posted on another site...............According to the interview I saw on CNBC abut an hour ago, this is the enactment of the change in the State's Natural Resources Law that was passed before Morales came into power. It does what many other nations do - charge royalties and fees to the producers who have contracts to provide the energy to the national entities for distribution. As a reactionary press gets it - this is nationalization! - and indeed it may seem like that to other Norte Americanos - As a matter of fact, it may be more like concessions or contracts - and time will tell what comes of Bolivia's changes in terms of who is staying and who is leaving. Sorry, I did not catch the name of the expert that was interviewed on CNBC - he was someone who was rather familiar with the region and said that his move had been anticiaipated for almost a years now. But hey - anything to keep the oil fires and press pages and media burning - factual or otherwise. Sort of like last Sept when Chavez was going to nationalize all the VNZLA mining (not). Surely however, it will be spun to attempt to drive prices in whatever direction the spinner is trying. k2again
