Turning off the spigots would be great indeed but replacing 5000 Bcf per year will be somewhat, ... challenging.
Europe needs to find partners overseas who has large reserves, is able to increase production quickly, wants to do business and is interested in investing in lng terminals in order to profit from european ng prices.
Hopefully such countries can be found but even then it will take years to build proper infrastructure. Next winter europeans have to choose between reducing energy consumption or keep financing the russian army.
