RE: RE: RE: Nat Gas Fueling stations

RE: RE: RE: Nat Gas Fueling stations

" What people don't realize, there are currently 120,000 NG vehicles in operation in the USA, which is 4X greater than electric vehicles"

Keep in mind, for the Nissan Leaf alone, production will be ramped up to 150,000 units annually for US production and another 50,000 units produced in the UK for Euro consumption by the end of 2013.

So it won't be long before there will be more EVs than NG vehicles on the road.

The number of NG vehicles will increase too... it's just that those will mostly be commercial fleets.   The actual number of units sold won't look as impressive as for Electric Vehicles.

But from an energy consuption perspective, those big trucks use a hell of a lot more energy than a car.

And for big 18 wheeler trucks, the plan is to use LNG... Liquified Natural Gas.  But LNG is more expensive because basically it takes a lot of electricity to refrigerate NG down to the point it becomes liquified.  But even with that expense, it's apparently still cheaper than diesel... for the moment.   And they won't use CNG because it doesn't provide the driving range needed/expected for an 18 wheeler.

And if PLT becomes a takeover target, I'd want a really big premium over the current market price before I tender my shares.
