Green electricity?
I was talking to a friend of mine about PYR and he complained that it wasn't really green tech because it needs electricity to run. I answered by saying what about Hydro,windmills and solar power for the electricity a torch needs. His answer was there isn't enough renewable energy to supply it if PYR scales.
It made me decide to go looking for an answer to that and in the process I learned about TRISO nuclear fuel and High temp nuclear reactors.
Interesting tech unlike the the nuke plants running now because of the physics involved they claim it is impossible to have a meltdown and because of that safety feature you can build a nuclear reactor in something the size of a shipping container. Also when it comes to disposal of used fuel it is self contained so that isn't a problem either.
It looks like we are 5-10 years out from an approved reactor design but I just can't stop looking for something new. Fusion might be better later but so far no one has made that work.
