RE:RE:RE:RE:RE:Is the Port Cartier pellet plant on your list ?As Prcheur states ArcellorMittal has been concentrating on natural gas for a couple of years as has been the Legault gouvenment. Gas has been identified as the future of Quebec's pellet plants and the gov has been pushing for a new pipe-line to supply the aluminum smelters in the Saguenay from which an extension ( +/- 500 kms) would be constructed to reach the North Shore of the St Lawerence and Sept-iles/Port Cartier. In the short term tanker trucks and vessels are being looked at. Locally produced bio-gas is also possible.
Quebec's ecolos are very much against any new pipelines. Legault will have to do an about face if Pyro is to get involved IMHO, however the ecolos may just give him the opportunity..
Politics are very much involved.
From Precheurs comments it would seem that he needs a visit to an installation where a torch is operating. He stated "As for electricity, it is obviously one of the solutions we are considering, but the technology is not mature enough yet. " In the mining business to be "Mature" does not mean leading the pack. These operations are typically very conservative, prefering to advance/improve existing technologies rather than invent/test/apply new ones, bigger trucks, longer trains, in preference to no drivers.
IOC did not miss the opportunity to observe a torch in Sweden/Norway. They seem to be convinced but power availability is the problem.
We are a long way from plugging in torches IMHO
We will get there but it will be for longs only.
