Hi Science first dude... you are conflating apples and oranges. An electric arc furnace does not need a plasma torch! It uses graphite electrodes which are immersed in a large kettle and the current is used to cause the scrap metal to melt. What you seem to be referring to is use of plasma torches to fire up a blast furnace to melt a charge of iron ore, coke and additives to create molten steel which is then poured from what is called a tundish. 

No where in the press releases does Algoma Steel talk about new technology in the form of plasma torches...for gods sake man if you are going to pump at least get your facts straight if you want to have any credibility at all
