It was regularly consumed at breakfast.
A more expensive ale was called Mead.
It was made from fermented honey.
It was a tradition for upper-class and aristocratic newlyweds to drink mead daily for one month after their nuptials so as to bless the new couple with a child.
Hence the word Honeymoon.
