RE:New Agoracom Interview on HPQ Silicon

RE:New Agoracom Interview on HPQ SiliconMade me look, but had to stop half way through because these two fellas were too focussed on explaining to people R&D grants and the "validation" they bring. On that point, not every R&D grant results in a blockbuster commercial technology, as a matter of fact very few do relatively speaking.

The other point I got from this first half of the interview is that, of course, there is no product yet ready to be offered to battery manufacturers for commercial use and may be ready maybe in 2025 if things go well, but HPQ is learning from others what works and what does not work and is adapting to trying to manufacture what works in a better way.  Hence, innovation in manufacturing and not the product itself.  If what the industry thinks works today does not pan out when fully produced, then they all have to pivot.

Feel free to correct these understandings from the first half of the interview but not sure I appreciated how they play this up.  Maybe works on those that have never been involved with something that received an R&D grant and don't know that many granting institutions use external expert panels to assess the merits of the application and that the need for the product is another relatively basic criteria.  Wonder whether the same funding organization is funding other battery related products or technologies that are competing.  Probably, because when there is a great need, they don't bet their success on one horse.

If this dose of practical reality behind R&D grants is considered spreading FUD then take this as a counter to a PUMP.
