I think we all agree that this case has been about the charges - damages and royalty rates - that WiLAN is demanding from defendants for using their patents.  

The Defendants are using the courts with the intention of challenging WiLAN's calculations, in order to obtain a ruling in their favor to get WiLAN to lower their demands.  

The dollar amounts being fought over must be significant as the defendants would not have spent ten's (if not hundreds) of thousands of dollars in litigation expenses to get this far.  The defendants must also believe they have a good chance of being granted a favorable ruling.

I commend WiLAN for standing their ground backed by the strength of their patents in this case.
