RE:IPA (Wilan) v. Microsoft

RE:IPA (Wilan) v. MicrosoftThe final Microsoft motion has been DENIED.  This motion sought to exclude reference to Siri's commercial success in Apple products, arguing that there was no connection between the asserted claims of the 560 patent and Siri.

It appears that the trial will open with Microsoft's motion for reconsideration on the court's damages ruling still in the briefing process.  That strongly suggests that Microsoft's efforts to exclude the $200M++ damages (plus 7 years of interest) expert testimony will be unsuccessful.  Overall, the rulings also strongly suggest that Microsoft will need to focus its defence on non-infringement.

While this case has a good feeling about it for Wilan - and QTRH by extension - it is a jury trial and the outcome can be unpredictable.
