Blackberry Patent Sale

BlackBerry looks to sell majority of its patents as it refocuses. Interesting

I sincerely hope we are not looking at them.   Expanding our footprint in the IRD world should be the next step.

Wilander, if there's patents that Quarterhill can monetize and buy at the right price, I have no issue with them making a purchase. If you're in the patent business, you need to keep the pipeline filled up. This is important even if Quarterhill decides to sell Wilan at some point in the future since it will factor into Wilan's selling price..

If the goal is to add value, to then sell Wilan, fine. But if Quarterhill wants to better itself  and grow as they have stated, money should go to IRD related ventures. I agree.  But the cost for BB patents will be huge.  Way too much for us to be going for.

QTRH needs to keep filling the IP pipeline until they decide to exit the segment and sell the sub, if it ever comes to that.  Until then, Wilan is the banker for ITS acquisitions and IRD growth.

ITS / IRD would fit nicely into Blackberry's transportation segment - BB Radar. I wonder if Quarterhill could return to a pure IP play and swap assets with BB.

We couldn't afford the BB patents anyways.

We couldn't afford all the Blackberry patents - but selected patents might be an option.
