Canada is not producing battery suitable nickelThe challenge moving forward is that thier Fort Saskatchewan refinery in Alberta was built adjacent to the oil sector. That plant was built in that location for a reason. The products Sherritt produces is an upper class 1 nickel and upper class 1 cobalt. These products demand a premium. 8 percent let's say. Sometimes 10-12 percent above and beyond LME prices. None of the premium nickel/cobalt products flowing through Canada are reporting to batteries. Canada (including Clydach Wales and Norway) really only compete with Russia in the premium nickel/cobalt space. The really good stuff! Battery suitable nickel is not the really good stuff. Bit of a dilemma foe Canada I would imagine.
