RE: Why are we dropping so much!

RE: Why are we dropping so much!If you have looked at all other base metal producers they have all gone down large due to the expected tightening in China and hence the drop off in demand. I personally think that the growth, although a bit slower, will continue at a decent pace. In addition, US growth will pick up and use much of what is presently being produced as metal inventories are low. The market has now priced in a 75 bp increase by the fed between now and year. This "looking ahead" by the market is also fueling the sell off in commodities. The USD is a puzzler as many companies get paid in USD for their commodities then have to convert the currency into CDN. As the USD gets stronger the price of the commodity gets weaker in USD terms however, given that the C$ has fallen out of bed lately, its really a wash. THe pull back has been a lot of hedge fund and spec money moving out of the sector. I think that based on fundametals, these companies still offer a compelling value to park some cash where they will continue to churn out high earnings numbers for the remainder of the year. Is this a buying opportunity? I think so but again -don't try to catch a falling knife.
