This Board

I get a kick out of it. For 6 years every quarter has been the same. It's like the movie Groundhog Day.

- "This will the be the quarter"

- Then when it's not the quarter, "next quarter will be the quarter"

- You have the newbies that think they've found a gem, but eventually go away after a year or so.

- You have the old work horse Rkholsa that is always scratching his head and why every quarter is so bad.

- You have the spammer, previously BBD something or other and now the new one (forgot his name as I blocked him long ago)

- you have the false profit Contrarion, who preaches his "value investing" gospel. At least he's stopped his  "nickel torque" prophecy. Understandably, given nickel went from 4$ to 12$ and the stock went down..

Very entertaining.

And you have YourFriendo, who is  never wrong. Obviously you like "Groundog Day" as you have evidently been watching  this version of it for 6 years. I am waiting for your pronouncement of "another win for YourFriendo". Have you managed to sell off your "3% and counting" position?

Sorry one more: The various snowflakes on this board.

yup it is always 'just around the next corner' with this one.  how many 'transition years' can one company have?  How many 'just over the horizons'?  but this time this is the one ; )

I have a tracking position.  I have come to realize my being lazy and just comparing current LME prices vs the Net Direct Cash Cost guidence somewhat of a negative as I tended to think the company would have a decent quarter. There are unfotunately no short cuts when it comes to Sherritt. As we all know management has no control over selling prices so its really a question of costs ...more

FCF however does deduct Capex.  All that matters is FCF, especially if one performs a DCF.

Capex is lumpy.  Depreciation smooths it out.  "All that matters is FCF, especially if one performs a DCF." Actually shares outstanding matter just as much if not more in your DCF as does the discount rate.

In my opinion, yes, though I do have a position in the common stock, as a hedge, with substantially more capital at risk in the PIKs.

Actually regarding "torque to nickel" as opposed to "nickel torque" Contrarion is quite right.  Sherritt has the highest cash flow delta to changes in nickel prices (up and down) of any of the public producers many of whom also mine other metals.  I remember seeing this in a research report a few years ago.  I don't think anything has changed in that regard.

Correct and the co provides sensitivity tables on the metals and the input commodities.  Ni far outstrips all.

As they say...proof is in the pudding. Nickel went from 4$ to 12$ and the stock price went from above $1 to 50 cents. Feel bad for those who correctly bet on nickel but incorrectly thought Sherritt stock was correlated.

Yes, it's been frustrating. Looks like the new boss is "same as the old boss" as the song goes. One of the longest most verbose detailed press releases I've read in a while. Know what was missing? Any discussion of enhancing shareholder value. Not the trough full of freebies, I mean how current long suffering shareholders will benefit from anything, anything at all, the company ...more

And who's next is the problem. Sheldon? John David?  I'd settle for the erratic elon. At least his prominence attracts plenty of scrutiny from the press and sec. These guys have slid (slippery and greasy) under the radar for a very long time. Clearly the kleptocracy tendency goes beyond the ceo/cfo team all up and down the BOD. And yes I'm long despite this. The outlook for nickel ...more

Sherritt july 27 2023 Day's Range 0.4550 - 0.4950 The truth hurts at times.  I'm flattered that you think I have that much influence but unfortunately it's not me pushing the stock or holding the stock down. I'm NOBODY with common cents is all. It's gotta be the sophisticated whale investors that you keep talking about. Either that, or ...more
