Open pit ban lifting and agreement with SAU happen at same time . Negotiations/ talks taking place behind the scenes trying to satisfy the majority of the Senate/congress .

what I know is there is $$$$ to be made and that gets a lot of attention from politicians ! The President in his last interview admitted as much ... there is always a problem with $$$$ !

I think first eo130 will be signed which should be a big catalyst for this. My understanding open pit approval is the only thing standing in the way of this. It is fully permitted and has a ftaa in place( tax deal) which alot of mines in operation are currently using

Yes - looks as though they (Gov.) are testing the waters with each announcement ... building up to the lifting of the ban on open-pit. So far the fallout has been negligible (Church / Green groups). Maybe they feel KK and others will comply with the new set of mining standards? We are just waiting on a final signature - it's not "if" he signs ... it's "when" will he ...more
