The grades in the open pits and below are no different.  The difference is in the pits, they are taking the lower grade material with the higher grade material and sending that to the mill.  When they go underground they will select only the material that is higher grade and put that thru the mill.

It is true tho that some reef deposits do present higher grades with depth...we cannot conslude that as yet.
