RE:Reality check
You obviously do not know much about Tank Farm design. and because of this prefer to BS the common folk. You must have a Liberal Arts Degree- a technical wanna be, with big mouth and no brains.
-I bet you don't know who and why Tank Farm design standards were developed!
They were devloped by the Insurance Underwriters, inorder to protect the investors against major law suites resulting from failures. Also very difficult to get investor support without it, as risk is too high. Therefore the TM P/L has major insurance policies in place and thet do not want any payouts
- To imply that 1960 desgn standards are applied in th current design is irresponsible- if not dumb. There has been major improvements in the design of Tank Farms with much better vapour supression and control, better flame and fire suppression, better design in preventing fire migration through water sewer collection networks etc.
- There are a number of desgn guidelines for Hydrcarbon storage. I'll bet that BC has their own as does Alberta, and the Oil and Refinery Associations. Typically, the Engineering design organizations use the most stringent and generally applies an additional safety factor. All designed to protect their operating staff and investment and avoid payout..Operating staff who are typically, very knowlegable in safety and the operation, would go near an unsafe operation.
