Funny my wife watched market call with me tonight and we started talking about things.  On previous boards and far as way back as prior to 08 I was always bitching about debt.  We had a university economic prof back in the early 80's who recognized the danger of debt and stated what will happen when the piper wants to be repaid.  At the same time we shared a poli sci class and learned of the trilateral commission which was a group of the 13 worlds wealthiest men who owned well over 90% of the free worlds stock.  They would sit every few years around a round table (so there was no head at the table) and debate and talk economics.  As Marx suggested govts and their role did not play a factor with this group and they only thought of ways to increase their wealth.  Clearly such a group did well.  And even if you dont buy into this group existing I believe the fundamental solution to this mess remains the same.  We must simply write off debt at the govt level.  The world should come to an agreement that on jan 1/2012 all govt debt will be erased.  There will be short term pain but we need a back up plan so it will not happen again and that will be the re-introduction to a real gold standard.   It just cant continue the way it is!!
