Your right, Bogapet!  We don't seem to be correlated with the price of silver, except when it goes down.

I think there are a couple of reasons for that ...

  • First, and foremost, it's my belief that the much-vaunted ex-Hecla team has lost a good deal of creditability since they first took the helm.  With such a high-powered team, it is hard to accept the fact that they seem to have taken over a company that had more skeletons in the closet than they realized when they made the take-over deal.
  • Second, notwithstanding all the good work they have done and are doing to straighten out the La Guitarra mess - and they have done a lot - a really good financial statement has yet to come.  And I don't mean another one that shows good operating results and then pulls the rug out with a major writeoff of some kind.  The market wants to see good bottom line results, not "good"  two or three lines up from the bottom.  "Don't talk to me of Love.  Show me!"
  • Thirdly, the price of silver is being played around so much by the banksters et, plus the reputation of Comex is at an all-time low.  There are fears that the whole market (stocks and bonds. and the Euro) could collapse any day, which keeps many would-be investors(gamblers?) out of the game until they see which way the wind will blow.  And what about those two US carrier groups in the Arabian Sea?
  • Fourthly, given the shenanigans over at MS-Global, it seems that many a broker has it in his/her power to play around with shares that are in "street" name and/or customers' money.  The feeling that the whole thing is rigged, not just the price of silver, gets stronger and stronger by the day.
  • Fifthly, Silvermex has one heck of a lot of shares out, which makes for a lot of short-term gambling for a penny or two.

I don't think anything great will happen until there is some news release indicating good drill results, and not just a few narrow veins either.  Drill news may come before the 4th Quarter Financial Report, but then again may not.  "We (can) sit in the circle and suppose, but the Secret sits in the middle and knows!"

Even when we get some good news, it may not be enough to send us back up to the dollar level.  There will have to be a flurry of good news releases before we are taken seriously.  There are a lot of shareholders who paid more than the current price to get in, and have waited (some for years) just to get back to a break-even position.

But, I'm still in and still hopeful, even though I sometimes feel I have one foot on a banana peel, !  My biggest worry is that the rest of the economical and political world also has a foot or two on its own banana peel, and I can't quite figure out who or what is going to go off bang first.

(Perhaps, seeing as we're talking about silver mining, a better metaphor might be, "I feel as though I'm between a rock and a hard place!")
