So you noticed that SMF's SP has been heavily manipulated too. Good for you. When you have 16.85 million shares being shorted (as of 3/01/2011) and your total shares o/s is only 272.3 million that would be about 6.2% of your total. Consider SMF's average daily volume is only 1.68 million shares, these manipulators are relentless in drowning our SP, hence the volitility.
So far they have been successful. We had daily losses of over 7% several times while other gold stocks dropped a little bit more than 2%. They also really rubbed it in when the company issued good news, combined with record gold prices, and were met with sell downs on those days! Talking about blatant manipulations!
Anyway, everyone on this BB is aware of that and the only way is to sit it out and hope they move on and plague another stock. Hopefully tomorrow's earnings for 2010 would blow them away and set off a reverse domino effect of a short cover run. I love to see that happen, these people have been doing it often enough in blowing away stop losses to generate downward sell-off spirals. Perhaps a little opposite is now in order.
