SPDR Portfolio Short Term Treasury ETF T.SST.U

Primary Symbol: SPTS

The investment seeks to provide investment results that correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the Bloomberg Barclays 1-3 Year U. The fund invests at least 80%, of its total assets in the securities comprising the index and in securities that the Adviser determines have economic characteristics that are substantially identical to the economic characteristics of the securities that comprise the index. The index is designed to measure the performance of short term (1-3 years) public obligations of the U.S. Treasury.

Reason for advance

Reason for advanceI think some fund might be putting on a pair trade:  Long SST and Short SLW.  It's a great trade, SST is a much lower multiple of cash flow and has no material debt.  SLW has significant debt and this is a curse these days.

I think that may account for the big increase in price and volume recently for SST.  Or it could just be a fund who has recognized that SST is way cheaper than all of the other royalty plays and is just buying it as a straight up long to own a cheap and safe precious metal play.  Either way I think we need to look at an explanation for why a fund would be a buyer, I don't think millions shares are trading over the past week on public buying.
