Almost laughable

The Stelco update this morning   had me laughing .  It is obvious to me  that something is trying to keep the current price static until after the tender auction is over .  Everything in the announcement was negative both currently and going forward .  Usually a company will try to put a positive spin on something .  If I wasn't already loaded up with Stelco stock , I would buy more . I learned over the years to stay somewhat diversified  .  I thought Torstar was a huge value bargain , I loaded up  and looked what happened there .

Good insight, Forklift guy! I read the news release... and thought the words about "well below prior guidance" did not really reflect a reduction of less than 10% of production... but you are definitely correct.  There was nothing in the release regarding the good pricing they have enjoyed, cash in the bank and the expected end of Covid, etc. It certainly doesn't sound like the ...more

It's not great news.  Well now it's below the Dutch auction max offer of C$37 so I will assume Bedrock will tender at the low end of the range.

Can they announce an early end to the auction? Say Bedrock throws in the towel? Then there are 10% fewer shares and profit metrics get adjusted?

...they're playing it like a violin.... Bang on..., why didn't they state the positive that that Q.4 tonnage will be up 25% over Q.4 2020? Because they want to shake loose more shares below $37
