Like many simple questions, the answer is not simple.
What to do in this case as always depends on your financial situation and investment objectives.
That said, as I mentioned in my earlier post, inflation compared to the 2 year US TBill rate is -6%. To me this situation is a strong argument against holding fixed income investments at this point in time. With this divergence something has to give. My gut feeling is that we will see further increases in interest rates before we see a recession so it may be possible to lock in a higher interest rate before we see a recession.
In my own portfolio, I currently don't have an fixed income investments - just equities and cash. But like my bond fund expert says, the time may be fast approaching where fixed income investments could provide a better return than equities.
