Funny that no scientist willing to voice this out or most of them are too afraid to speak out or have bought into CO2 shaming game too.
In pursuit of minimizing CO2, the idiots are pushing for diesel which does emits less CO2 but emits way more NOx (10X more), more SOx, and way more in particulates. For the same energy output, gasoline vs diesel, more CO2 output means more efficient combustion, more energy release per unit of fuel. If you have more craps like NOx, and soot instead of CO2, it means the combustion process is less efficient. That's why VW had to cheat on their test emission. (the VW diesel scandal). Of course, if one can clean up the diesel exhaust with extra cost versus a simple catalytic converter for gasoline engine exhaust.
