Sp movement

This should be higher than it is but so much invest money is flowing into renewables that traditional oil plays are not moving the way they should. At plus 50 a barrel suncor should have a good next quarterly. Hopefully that gives the sp a kick upward.

I suppose that there is always the risk that the whole sector has been rerated and historical multiples no longer apply. Who knows, time will tell. LIke you said, hopefully the share price picks up as earnings improve.

This can be a short term play, even if investors doubt the sustainability of oil stocks. I hope you're both right and get to at least 30 by year end

the doubt in the oil stocks happens to coincide with a very low share price. When everyone hates the stock you buy it. In the next 2-5 years oil is going to hit 70 maybe even 80 bucks, people will not be looking at sustainability then but profits.

That may very well be the case. Time will tell, if ESG turns out to be just a fad, or something more (pardon the pun) "sustainable", particularly amongst institutional investors.

ESG is not a fad, but companies like Suncor can still try to sell an ESG image. At the end of the day though, Suncor stock price will be driven by profits, not all investors are driven by morals.
