Suncor Energy Inc > Ex-Dividend Date: Sept 2

Ex-Dividend Date: Sept 2

Reminder that the Suncor quarterly ex dividend date is tomorrow Sept 2, for those owning shares at the end of the day.

Too late to buy more today, as it goes by settlement date not purchase date. Yesterday was the cutoff for a buy.

Current payout is $0.21 this quarter, paid on Sept 24, now yielding 3.59% annually.

Looking forward to the day divided increases are announced with the massive FCF generated now after some debt paydown and share buybacks, especially at these low share prices.

I do not think Management is as blind or deaf to the calls of the shareholders, regulators, and the market as some would believe.

Decarbonizing the oilsands is coming, as well as other green energy initiatives. However once these things are announced, it may be too late for investors to board, and many will be running after the plane on the tarmac or hanging on to the landing gear losing their 'Sandal in the Wind'.

Yesterday was the cutoff for a buy" NOT TRUE.  Sept 2 is the ex-dividend date which means the stock trades "with dividend" today. I got caught on the wrong side last quarter. I bought some more yesterday, with TD, and the settlement shown was Sept 2. Better price today if it works for you.

Thanks. Last quarter I did in fact call in and talk to a TD trading rep, and I was in fact too late to get it according to their settlement dates. This month I should be OK. Expecting around a $7k payout this qtr. so nothing to sneeze at.

barring a big jump in oil prices due to war in the gulf etc I think Canadian oils will drift lower as we approach the election. Trudeau will likely win and he will continue to punish oil companies with emission reductions costs, carbon tax increase, fuel tax increase etc. He wants to tax banks and insurance companies, who will increase service fees and premiums to customers to pay for that, so its ...more
