Some Thoughts on Climate Change

Don't know whether climate change is for real or not.  I am not an expert and it seems that even the experts disagree on it.  But one thing I do know is that if it is real then the leaders of every single country in the world need to be singing from the same songsheet.

From an economic/business perspective, if that isn't the case then those countries that decide to make changes to protect the environment put their citizens at a disadvantage compared to those countries that don't.

Is it possible to get an agreement by all countries?

The history of the world and certainly recent experience from "world" conferences suggest that such an agreement isn't going to happen or they may make some sort of agreement but not follow through with it.

The world is resilient just as human beings are. Yes, we have a God given immune system and we don't need a vaccine for the survival of human beings. The world is no different.

Jay.....one of my cycling routes is through a park which also has numerous hiking trails.  During Covid and since then the park has been closed to cars or open at limited times for car traffic.  Since that happened I have seen more wildlife than I have in years.  Even now, on each of my last two rides there I saw a turtle on the road. You are right about the resilience of nature ...more

just a minor correction our natural immune system can't deal with man made concoction.  There are gigzillion deadly chemcials and viruses already designed to kill mankind 1,000,000x over but is in storage for 'academia' reason.  These can be weaponized to target certain race, certain DNA makeup. I knew this 20 years ago, it's not new. Now imagine how much progress made ...more

Maybe the adverse effects of climate change will be self correcting over time. They may result in the decline of our species as the planet takes back control and puts things back where it was before we were here! Our planet has the capacity to undo what we have done to change it. Just think how long she takes to return a parking lot  or a highway back to a forest after we abandon or fail to ...more

george carlin nailed DonSwan to a tee, your local virtue signaling environmentalist.  Don Swan only concern about how much CO2 emitted by alberta (his backyard) oilsand but he doesn't give a schitt on pollution released by china, india, and other huge polluters.

To me the interesting thing about this "skit" by George Carlin is that it is actually backed up by science. What he is talking about is actually the underlying thesis of the book "Limits to Growth" published in 1972 by the Club of Rome.  For those who don't know about this I will paraphrase/oversimplify the book in a sentence...Population will grow to a point where ...more
