A Time to RememberWhile the World is focussed on the upside down world we are currently living in it is important that at least on one day we spend some time, even if it is a few minutes, to remember those that fought so they we can enjoy the freedom we experience today. In particular we should all be thankful to those we gave the ultimate sacrifice, their lives for us.
Without their sacrifice we wouldn't likely be able to share our thoughts on Stockhouse freely and without concern for retribution and censorship.
My Father served in WWII and my Grandfather served in WWI. I still have my Father's five medals from the Second World War and each time I look at them I am reminded of his bravery. Like many others he was put on a ship to go first from Canada to Scotland across the North Atlantic through waters infested with Nazi U2 boats, not to mention the treacherous seas before moving on to his assignments during the war.
Both of them were farmers and left a simple and happy life to enlist in the army for the greater good. They were not alone, thousands of others did exactly the same thing. Fortunately both of them survived the war and returned to Canada and became farmers once again.
I often wonder in today's society how many people would willingly do the same thing for the greater good.
So for now I encourage all of you to think about those that served and thank them for what they left to us - freeedom.
