RE:RE:Wednesday

RE:RE:WednesdayWhat are the chances that Trump doesn't split the Republican vote?

Even in a make-believe world where the Republicans win, would the win suddenly:

* make Volkswagen discard its $185 billion committment to its EV platform.
* make GM hire back the 58,000 white collar workers
* make Ford stop its Blue Oval development
* make auto makers rescind their tens of billions of dollars committment to battery production
* stop Tesla from its current committment to add 4 million compact cars per year

Would people would rather:

* spend under $20,000 on a new EV or $50,000 on an ICE vehicle?
* spend 1/8 of what it costs at the pumps if you charge at home?
* pay for oil changes every six months or not?
* pay for repairing or replacing engines and transmissions or not?
* drive the safest car in the world or not?
* receive regular over-the-air updates that keep EV's technically brand new for 20 years, or face 20% depreciation on their ICE vehicle the moment they drive off the lot and then face 50% depreciation over 4 years.

EV's will make up 12% of new car sales in America this year and probably 24% next year.  And so on.

No political party is going to pin their election hopes on promising something that people don't want.

I just got a PM from Experienced that poked fun at my inability to refrain from responding to stupid stuff even though I promised myself I wouldn't do it.  He's right...I'm the idiot.  Let's see how long I can refrain this time :)
