Easy to maintain and repair with mostly basic bike tools. I used to run an odometer but got fed up of being a slave to it. So many cyclists I see blast through stop signs and lights just to get that 'average trip speed' up. I used to do it too and it's stupid and dangerous. Now I rarely ride my road bike and instead ride an old-school steel-framed mountain bike with rubber slicks... slower/safer speeds, harder workout, actually can enjoy the scenery. I secretly laugh at all the 'racers' out on the road.
never got use to riding road bike due to uncomfortable riding position and seat. I bought a mtn bike (diamond back ascent) 20+ years ago and only rode it for like 3-4 times. Spent more time /money upgrading it (LX to XT shifter/brake/derailleur, separate wheels for slick) than riding it but still not comfortable as riding a motorized dirt bike. Riding a dirt bike is like riding a cadillac compared to riding a mtn bike. Haven't bought a e-bike yet, still booting around town on my motorbike.
