A real life personal example. Back many years ago, Canadians were asked to help "the Boat people" from SE Asia. A group of us sponsored a family from Laos - husband wife and two kids. When we met them at the airport, there were 6, not 4. Grandpa and Grandma also came. Turns out that Grandpa and Grandma were key. When the family arrived they spoke no English but with the help of the Elders, Mom and Dad quickly learned English and a year later he was working as an engineer in high tech and she opened a successful restauarant.
