Suncor trading same level as -$20 crude

This stock has now had basically zero recovery since March covid lows . Meantime US production has crashed 2 million bbls per day , China has ramped up imports, drilling has cratered and oil trades $37 with term structure visibility .

it's a reflection of just how hated how ostracized this oil and gas sector has become . The pariahs .

It makes the value proposition here especially poignant . Anyone looking at LEAPs or other call option strategies to play this for longer than say 6 months ???

lets see what Buffet does with Suncor sub $18 Canadian from what $70 in 2008?

Yes.  The share price ~$70 (also $70 in USA funds) a dozen years ago. It was a different world then with oil up to $147 It was a different company back then as it had not yet bought Petro Canada. Oil consumption is on a 30 year journey from 100 million  barrels per day in 2019 to a mere 50 million barrels per day in 2050. This is the broad context.  We should not dwell on ...more

Not so sure about your statement regaarding suitability of long term investment. The Rockefellers built their fortune sticking their neck out in times of existentially  threatening macro condititons . So too T Boone Pickens. Its when the big scores are made!  This aint the last rodeo. for oil  And how many people on planet in 2050 if illuminati covid elite cant thwart with ...more

I say just be patient as our time is coming in the oil sector. Blood is in the streets and the people that can get through this time and average down will be extremely wealthy in five years. Its like buying Amazon in the late 90s. This opportunity wont happen again as oil will never stay below 50 ever again once this takes off. The massive draw in gasoline inventories last week was extremely ...more

I agree grimes, with the tmx pipeline well underway, which will allieviate gluts and open new markets, and with many oil projects suspended worldwide, which will decrease future production levels,i think the situation will improve dramatically for Canadian oil companies in the next couple of years.Suncor is well positioned and with increases in dividends as balance sheets improve,s/p will flourish.The ...more

Canadian oil is uncompetitive with few refineries able to process the very low quality worldwide. Many oil prospects globally can ramp up quickly, e.g Russians who will 18% more in 2020, with very rapid market access to huge markets. US squeezed Canada out, China dropped us, few others want the low grade oil when way better quality is at their finger tips. Canadian arrogance and entitlement is the ...more

You mean third world, like Somalia? Where you're from? For a guy who calls himself "First World", you seem to manage to throw in the term "third world" into every post. Once again, I admire your persistence, but the creativity is lacking. You really ought to consider changing your screen name to "third world", instead. It would be much more fitting.
