vr6....nice find Here are my thoughts -  At first blush the analysis provides a conservative estimate of the NPV based on a discount rate of of around 8% and values the company at about a third more than its current SP.  This confirms some things I have been saying for a while, that The Street doesn't seem to want to value SU at anything near its normal valuation metrics. So this ...more

Thanks for the comments Exp, always enjoy your thoughts.  I agree on a lot of what you're saying. I believe, however as others have mentioned, we need more energy (all forms) not less and as governments "put the finger on the scale" so to speak there will be "push back ". We are already seeing it in Italy, Netherlands, France, Venezuela and eventually we should have a ...more

vr6loco I am sorry to say but common sense is very uncommon  these days!  I had a discussion yesterday with a relative in Europe by a phone call, and I was told that there is a quiet revolution among some memebers of the EU. They are getting fed up with unelected funcionaries making decisions they were not empowered to do. It seems that they are moving toward a ...more

btttm....yep common sense seems in short supply these days I recall back in the day a close of friend of mine was involved in foreigh affairs for the Government with a specialization in European affairs. Back then the Europeans had a thing called the Common Agricultural Policy or CAP. He often referred to the CAP as the Common Albatross Policy...lol The point that your European friends are ...more

New crop of figures like taylor swift, nancy pelosi, lady gaga, robert de niro pledges to move out of US if trump is re-elected 2024. These are on top of couple of dozens more back in 2016 who pledged to move out US if trump elected.  Too bad they are just leftist feeling and headline grabbers, not credible action.

vr6...thank you Horse and buggies delivering milk in the 50s?  Don't recall that.  Remember a guy in a small delivery truck delivering our milk from the dairy on the corner....lol...maybe they did where you lived... I am not saying that the world won't need energy, the question is what kind? In the energy producer category I have held TOU for a numbers years having bought in ...more

All kinds of opinions on SU that's for sure. My opinion: if you decide to buy an EV, lease it for a short enough period that it will remain under warranty for the entire term of the lease. Why? Because the out of warranty expense to replace the battery may be outrageous (someone told me $25,000). If you decide to buy instead of lease, ask point blank how much will it cost to replace the ...more

Pablo:  Not a bad strategy to lease new technology if you can.  I don't know about the warranty for other EV's, but Tesla offers an 8 year warranty on the battery based on 20,000km per year.  Apparently battery fails for Tesla's are very rare but when they do happen, it is almost always in the first year.  The average battery life for a Tesla ranges from 22 to 27 ...more

Today, the cost to replace a Tesla battery ranges from $3,000 to $7,000 depending upon the size of the battery. The cost of the battery is expected to drop another 40% by the end of 2025 which is only two years out.   Can you get that cost of replacement in writing, considering you said cost is coming down too, dealers should have no problem underwriting that cost estimate.  ...more
