Vertex Trial on Hold

Well well well

Nice find.

If we could get that TSX uplisting right about now, Sernova's story would make for a good kick while they're down.
Comment by BioTeck on May 02, 2022 10:59am
No one knows who Sernova is, only Vertex and ViaCyte. I'm curious to know why it was put on hold, I'll do some digging. Vertex seemed to be surprised by the decision. Hopefully Sernova is not at risk for the same issue. .

Vertex has lost 4 billion off market cap. They could have bought Sernova for a quarter of that.

The patient had a serious adverse event of neutropenia, an abnormally low count of white blood cells   That's what did it.
Comment by MustangSalley on May 02, 2022 11:56am
Mouth, Where did you see this? I couldn't find it the neutropenia thing . MS
Comment by Redbaron2211 on May 02, 2022 11:57am
FDA is going to be more hesitant with portal vein injections as you can not easily retrieve the cells and if you run into a problem with something like Neutropenia it puts the trial on hold but this is just the tip of the iceberg.   What happens when the iSPC cells become cancerous?  Clearly they need to go with a removable device as we discussed a few months back.     ...more

Red,   The million dollar question is when will be Sva be recognized as the leader in regenerative medicine for diabetes ? With Viacycte and now potentially Vertex on cusp of a major setback, Sva should be considered the leader in this field. Will JDRF and media south of the border give recognition and more importantly proper valuation . Red I agree Fda is not too keen in dumping cells ...more

MS hopefully a major licensing deal will be the validation needed to at least start the recognization as the leader in the space.  After today it is pretty obviouse who is leading but with validation and showing insulin indepence with out a top up I dont think it can be ignored.   The spec at that point gets pretty real when you combine confromal coating, iPSC cells and high ...more

Bio-Teck, I believe SVA is worth far more than $1B.  Once SVA secure and advance iPSC Stem Cell Technology and the Conformal Coating SVA should be worth $2B which equals $6.80 per share.  This is not including Thyroid & Hemo. Phil reported at AGM SVA wants to treat millions of patients world-wide, he met with insce co willing to pay      $100,000 to $200,000 range per ...more

Don't forget the ipsc tech needs to be acquired AND proven. The conformal coating needs to be proven. A billion in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Not saying it's impossible but it will take many years to prove out and by then things can change drastically. I'd happily sell my shares for a 1 bil offer. .
Comment by Metalsguy1 on May 02, 2022 3:18pm
At the rate management is moving, inflation and the Frank Hollar mint printing free shares may have chipped away at a 1 billion offer such that it would be the same as selling today.
Comment by MoneyMouth on May 02, 2022 4:52pm
As per thr AGM, the conformal coating technology IS WORKING preclinically so far. As in, white blood cells can't get in, and insulin can get out
Comment by BioTeck on May 02, 2022 7:38pm
Mice have been cured of diabetes over and over for years. What works in mice doesn't always work in humans so I'd take that statement with more than a grain of salt. Maybe a box.
Comment by MoneyMouth on May 03, 2022 2:14am
That has nothing to do with diabetes. Its about preventing certain molecules from diffusing and allowing others. This shows huge promise for the technology. However it was evident by the side by side images of conformal coated cells vs non coated, that the conformal coating does sacrifice some performance due to what looked to me to be about half as much insulin staining. Question is, has ...more

MoneyMouth, if I had a penny for every drug or device that worked in preclinical studies, I would have retired decades ago. Preclinical means zip..nada..nothing.
Comment by MoneyMouth on May 03, 2022 2:19am
And if I had a penny for every one that didn't work preclinically, but then worked clinically, I'd also have zip, nada nothing... and live in a fantasy land where preclinical results didnt matter

you are an idiot MoneyMouth. Stick to your street corner and knee pads.

Oh please, you are yet to come up with an original post, original idea, any insight or anything of any substance. I think you've literally only ever commented on other peoples posts and its always just the same regurgitated insults, like please come up with some new material at the very least
