Red,

First of all, Shaw's legacy cable network is just thatLegacy ....... it's paid for and generating all sorts of cash. It won'tdisappear overnight Red. Telus is still spending huge amounts of money to build theirs.

Youseemed to have missed the big picture Red and that's who's supplyingthe Pipe into your house. No matter what Telus does, unless they aregoing to commit to Fiber in the home, they will always draw the shortstraw with bandwidth limitations because of their twisted pair networktrying to compete against coax. It's not like Shaw isn't building fiberout close to the home like Telus is, but that last leg is still coax andnot twisted pair. Shaws top speed offering is already 100 MB whileTelus is 25. Shaw also has way more high speed customers than Telus.

The new TV and many other services will come in to your house via the pipe Red ... think about it,

The Red continues: These are all excellent points. The existing cable network costs are sunk, i.e., behind Shaw. In that respect, a few more dollars come off cable-rich Roger's share price and it will be most attractively oversold.

I don't know any techno-geeks who use Telus as their ISP. The odd time I sit down beside somebody who uses Telus as the ISP, the connection always strikes me as slow.

Telus is doing well and should benefit mid-term or long-term from a merger with BCE. Current marketing seems to be doing well for Telus, though I got a call the other day from a Telus Call Centre. I'm rather tolerant listening to other people's unpolished 2nd or 3rd language.... but in this case after a couple of minutes of painful, stumbling read-aloud, I said thank you and hung up.
