RE: Has the TWU ever tabled a proposal

RE: Has the TWU ever tabled a proposalSerfBoy, here is a recent example from Thunder Bay. Lines crossed: Power, phone outages may be linked By Jonathan Wilson - The Chronicle-Journal June 23, 2005 Hydro One officials in Toronto are blaming telecom giant Telus and TBayTel for a massive power outage that hit Thunder Bay on Tuesday. Outages ranging from 10 minutes to close to an hour affected nearly 10,000 residents throughout the city, starting at about 3 p.m. About one hour earlier, TBayTel customers began having problems placing calls to points west of the city within the 807 area code, such as Atikokan, Fort Frances and Dryden. Peter Gregg, vice-president of corporate communications for Hydro One, said Wednesday the power outage was connected to TBayTel’s long-distance problems. “When (repair crews) were doing work on that system, they inadvertently sent a signal to our equipment telling it to switch off,” Gregg said. Hydro One’s transformer station on Burwood Road leases equipment from Telus for protection and control at the station. Meanwhile, TBayTel receives its long-distance connection from Telus. TBayTel manager Kevin Burns said “it’s a possibility” the two problems were connected, but he hadn’t received any such information from Telus by Wednesday. Burns said crews from Telus were working on behalf of TBayTel to repair the service interruption, and may have caused the Hydro One problems. “If there is a connection between our issues and their issues, it would simply be the fact that we’re both customers of the same company,” said Burns. Gregg said he’s never heard of anything like this happening before. Telus continues to investigate the problem and has pledged to provide an update by the end of the week.
