RE: Vote should be taken on the TWU offer! The logistics for one..its take time and money to do this. Now, in your wildest dreams, image that this is done, and the offer is rejected. Then what? what does Telus do then? Bargain? That is what they should be doing now.
If the offer is accepted, then the employees might as well kiss the union goodbye, why would we need the TWU? This proposed agreement lets the company do what it want, to whom it whats, without regards to the employees. For example, Manitory Overtime...why not just hire more people. Right now, the OT ban is having an effect, we have seen is in the last 3 days where Telus is in danger of not meeting its TSF factors this month. The managers are urging everyone to work harder, all employee meetings and training has been cancelled. Pension issues...Telus wants more control of the pension. My question is why?
There is a history of companies dipping into the pension funds for their little projects..not a good thing.
Under Canadian Labour Law, a trade union represents the workers of that union. It does the bargaining, and when the bargaining committee feels they have a presentable agreement, they will do so. This presents chaos and second guessing.
