RE:RE:RE:RE:Notley speech on oil-by-rail T2: I live in BC which pays more in transfers than it receives. And the conspiracy theory about Trans Mtn is right up there with the moon landing. The Feds spent $4.5 billion to kill it? If they wanted to kill it, why not just let it die as Kinder Morgan was poised to do?
Debt increased under the PC's too. Not nearly to same degree as recently, obviously. But when your revenue is shrinking dramatically you, as the government, have a choice. Either gut services (think Ralph Klein) or you borrow. The NDP has chosen the latter. When the oil market reverses, provincial revenue will rise. That's the time to start modest cutting.
Economics 101 says spend during down times, pay down debt during the good times.
