The next Detour?

"Trade offs". How many times has Detour been mentioned when making comparisons?  Many times including most recently, Justin saying...if this was a new build, you'd build it bigger.

Hard not to wonder if Sean Boyd of Agnico Eagle hasn't been looking at this?  Why not add another deposit like Detour, it would fit in quite nicely in that portfolio of deposits.

Sure seems the " trade off" just might be to go with bigger??  Who knows?  We'll find out soon enough.   I'm leading to think bigger... but also appreciate other opinions as well,, such as Temples, maybe 10,000 tpd in the high grade?  Interesting at least of the many scenarios that could come out?

Check this Agnico Eagle link out....showing Detours production numbers....wow! Over 700,000 ounces last year..  Might just he worth going bigger ...

Go BIG or go home. Justin has used the word BIG more than any other. The large investors want BIG...it's going to be BIG...Detour like BIG

I read a report on Agnico.   The assesment was:  the company needs to grow it's resources for the future.   Some of their mines are in the tail end and reduced production.   They are producinmg 3.5+ million ounces a year world wide.  I've parked alot of my money into Wallbridge Mining (right next door to Detour) and it's not panned out as planned ...more

Ceo of Agnico also commented that they will be looking at acquisitions or partnerships in the near future, just didnt state when.. And the region of particular interest was abiti region. As it is a rich safe region and serves as their base of Operations in legacy flagships.

If a takeout is in the works or TLG is going to simultaneously announce the sources and terms of a fully-financed operation along with the releases the FS, then I don't see a need to attend PDAC.  That said, if it's a takeout, I suspect the premium to the current share price would be 40 - 50% at most, (0.78 - 0.84) which would be a nice big, quick gain for those who bought in the 0 ...more

IDK If JR would accept a 40-60 premium. isnt his average like 1.10 or something?
Comment by VickRoxman2 on Feb 12, 2024 6:36pm
I believe that is the average as well.   Can't imagine TLG accepting any offer so low?   Especially when they aren't desperate.  No need to just sell out.    One would think or hope that in this case...there is an exception to the average type of premium offered.   It would be shocking at $1.10.     You almost have to think of ...more

GBR got a 40% premium to its 20-day volume-weighted average share price when it was taken out by K, and that was considered a major score for GBR shareholders. If a TLG takeout is announced, the premium would likely be calculated based on the previous 10 or 20 or 30 trading day VWAP to smooth out any sporadic spikes or dips in the share price over that time period.

I never owned GBR unfortunately!   Technically, it could be said that GBR got a lot more than 40% because the stock had already gone up so much prior and it was an incredible market cap. TLG is so undervalued that its going to take a "huge" premium to buy this thing.  One has to think "market cap" for this one now.. Just my opinion. Its going to be an ...more

My bet is they go the JV route. I'd be surprised if they announced a takeout in the next month or so, but if they do, much like SBB and MOZ shareholders, I think the takeout price will disappoint those in here who expect 1.00+ per fully diluted share.
