RE: Great Coverage in Nat. Post Mag. To-Day

RE: Great Coverage in Nat. Post Mag. To-DaySee also the Nov. 6th National Post article, "Bang for the Buck": https://www.canada.com/nationalpost/financialpost/fpb/story.html?id=d11d09b2-1db5-4845-9a7f-9e2f22b1d133 Allan Chan takes top honours as being the CEO who gives the most for what he's paid. The section that discusses Chan follows: "So, which CEO produced this year's best Bang for the Buck? Surprisingly, the honour goes to the head of a forestry company - Sino-Forest Corp.'s Allen Chan. The Canadian industry is struggling under the weight of a dollar hovering around par, high energy costs and, most recently, a major slump in the U.S. housing market. But Chan has a major advantage over his peers: His company, while headquartered in Mississauga, Ont., doesn't operate in Canada. Instead, Sino-Forest holds vast tree plantations all across China, selling wood and wood products into the blistering Chinese market. That strategy has brought Sino-Forest shareholders a 522% return over the past three years, a result that earned Chan a third-place finish in our overall CEO Scorecard ranking. His average pay for this performance: a modest $332,000 a year, giving him a Bang for the Buck score of $25.20. For the record, Chan also owns a company called Sino-Wood, which charges management fees of around $2.5 million a year to Sino-Forest, and there's no telling how much of that goes into Chan's pockets. But even if it all went directly to him, he would still be underpaid. According to our calculations, Chan is entitled to $8.4 million for Sino-Forest's incredible performance."
