RE: 14 MILLION Cattle in CanadaI have several relatives in the cattle industry out in western Canada. I spoke to one of them earlier today about this development. His response was that the ecoli issue rarely comes back to bite the farmer but rather the vendor of the end product. Given that, he has some reservations about whether or not farmers will be rushing out to buy this vaccine at 10 bucks a head. Given the Mad Cow problem and how this has effected the bottom line for cattle producers over the past few years the last thing they want to do is shave another 10 bucks off the bottom line. This may require some governemnt intervention and cost sharing if it is going to fly. That being said though, the product is really only the icing on the cake as one poster recently noted. The real bucks will come via the cancer treating agents which are being developed. A good company that I certainly would not hesitate to invest in, but not because of the ecoli vaccine. Come up with a vaccine for Mad cow disease and you will be on to something huge.
