Econiche announcement due in May On Sept 13, 2011 the US Department of Agriculture announced that 6 additional types of disease causing E.coli found in raw ground beef will be prohibited from sale to consumers. [source: USDA news release in Sept 2011 and Bioniche Newsletter in April 2012.] Inspection for these new types was to begin in March 2012.
In the fiscal year earnings conference call in September, 2011 McRae was asked whether Econich could prevent these 6 new strains. Bailmeout posted the following on Sept 21: "Yes they are looking for US pharma partner agreement .. all they can say on that... new strains..all things point to a yes with proven results in 6-8 months from research group in europe.. contract to university group in Scotland to do testing"
At the AGM in November 2011, McRae said they expect results from Scotland in 6 months.
Therefore they should have the results in May 2012, which is NOW! I think they need positive results on preventing these additional 6 strains of e.coli if they want to get US approval and if they want to get a US partner. If the results are negative, will they announce it? Other biotech companies have been known to sit on material but negative news for several months before announcing.
I'm crossing my fingers we will hear something very soon.
